Robinson Crusoe 13to produceto missto make somethingto feel sad that a person or thing is not present::GlossaryBrazil is a new country in South America, and many people come here for a fresh start, just like me. I don%u2019t know anyone. I meet people with sugar plantations, and we become friends. I like Brazil a lot. Soon, I learn the language. With some money from the captain, I buy a small piece of land in Brazil. I start growing sugar. At first, I don%u2019t produce much, but after two years, my plantation becomes large. Even though I%u2019m single, my life is good, and my financial situation gets better every month. After three years in Brazil, I have enough money. I decide to hire a woman to clean my house. I ask my friends if they know someone, and one friend suggests his daughter, who is eighteen and a good cook. The next day, she comes to my house. She is friendly and pretty but shy. We talk, and I tell her what I need. She comes to my house every Monday and Thursday mornings. She cleans, cooks, and even takes care of my cat. I am always happy when I see her. Sometimes we have meals together and talk. Then, she gets sick and can%u2019t come. I feel strange when she%u2019s not there. I miss her and think, %u201cMaybe, I love her.%u201d One week later, she comes back, and I am happy to see her again. I can tell that she is happy too. Two weeks later, I go to her father%u2019s house and ask if I can marry his daughter. He remains quiet for a moment, and I patiently wait for his answer. Finally, he says, %u201cI agree.%u201d I am very happy. Two months later, I marry his daughter. We have big plans for our family and plantation. We need a bigger house and more money for it. I think about doing business in Africa to make a lot of money quickly. One day, three friends visit my house and say they want to go to Africa. They ask if I want to join them, and I say yes. We plan to return in two months.
